Covid-19 Protocols

NEW COVID-19 Protocols

At Kawartha Gymnastics, we take the health and safety of our athletes and staff members very seriously. As a Gymnastics Ontario sanctioned organization, we follow all protocols given to us and also have created our own in house cleaning and safety facility standards. Click the red buttons to review our return to train protocols and new policy waivers.

COVID-19 FAQs

  • What cleaning measures have you put in place due to Covid-19?

We have made a lot of changes around the gym including increased signage to encourage physical distancing, hand washing, and line ups.  Our team is working hard to ensure our facility is as clean as possible through enhanced cleaning measures in between each station and group.  We have cleaning stations with logs located throughout the gym that are completed all day long.  We use a medical grade industrial fogger with anti-bacterial Health Canada approved disinfectant solution daily to kill any Covid-19 germs.

  • What are your Covid-19 isolation policies?

Athletes must isolate for 5 days following a positive covid-19 test before returning to class.  Upon receiving a negative test, they are welcome back to join the group.

  • Is my child required to wear a mask during gymnastics?

Currently we do not have any masking protocols in place as per the Peterborough Public Health guidelines. If athlete's choose to wear a mask during their class they may do so at their own discretion.

  • How to I drop off my child with the new protocols in place?

Athletes are required to line up outside the front of our building until their coach can greet them, take their attendance, and show them to their cubby inside.  Parents are required to park, exit their vehicle, and escort their athlete to and from the front door at all times, regardless of age.  Please note, we do not allow spectators in the gym other than our Babynastics, Parent & Tot, and Kindertyke classes (1 adult per athlete).

  • How do I pick up my child at the end of class?

Athletes will be entering and exiting using the same main door. Parents may keep their distance while waiting outside, and once the kids have their shoes on, have sanitized their hands and the coach has confirmed they are ready, they may be picked up.  Coaches must receive verbal confirmation in person from parents before they allow the athlete to leave their view.

  • How will my child's class vary from previous years due to Covid-19?

We are currently offering smaller group sizes, a reduced schedule, and extra cleaning measures to ensure the health and safety of all athletes and staff. Smaller group sizes allow for our coaches to ensure the athletes are keeping their distance while still having fun.  By not having a spectator area, athletes are in a secure and safe environment at all times and capacity numbers are well monitored to stay within our fire code allowance.

  • What is your new "Kindertykes" class?

Our "Kindertykes" class was developed with a wider age range for toddlers who are walking – 4 year olds, with parent participation mandatory to help ensure we are following social distancing protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. One parent is required to be on the floor at all times to guide their child through the group activities. We recommend the same parent attend each week if possible. Once kids turn 5, they may enroll in our Junior Rec program without parent guidance on the floor, or 4 year olds may complete a testing for our Advanced Mini Stars program.
